How to Fund Your Travels
The question I get asked most often is hands down, "How do you afford your travels?" In order to answer this question, let's first take a step back to adjust our lens concerning what traveling actually means.
It seems as though most people have only had the experience of being a tourist somewhere for 1-2 weeks and paying for everything out of pocket. This is expensive, and not the only way to travel. As a quick example, I lived in France for the Fall of 2017 and in three months I hadn't spent any money because a few odd jobs here and there allowed me to break even (thanks to the Canadian-French-Youth-Travel-Work-Visa). As another example, I was able to purchase a round-trip flight to Ecuador in May of 2017 for just over $300 from Boston because I had my eye on flight deals. Once in South America, I spent less than $100 for a whole month of accommodations thanks to couch-surfing networks, WorkAway hostels, and sleeping in the extra bedrooms of old friends. If you stay at an expensive resort and eat at different restaurants every day, yes, traveling will be expensive. But that is not the kind of traveling I do, and not necessarily the kind of traveling I enjoy most. |

I've split this section into various ones, and provided a bullet-point list for easy browsing (but I'm still working on the content). Feel free to reach out with more questions, or contact me if you think I should add something. I'm always on the lookout for more information.
