We're so excited to welcome you into the Master of Teaching or Master of Arts in Child Study & Education program. As you prepare for your journey at OISE, this page showcases some important information you should know.
Getting Started & Thinking Ahead
Non-refundable Program Deposit
To secure your space in the Master of Teaching or Master of Arts in Child Study & Education program, you are required to submit the confirmation form found in your offer of admission letter AND pay a $300 non-refundable tuition deposit.

Thinking Ahead: Your Birth Certificate (Copy)
Once you are ready to apply for certification with the Ontario College of Teachers, you'll need to submit a copy of your birth certificate.
Name Change Documentation
Documentation pertaining to any change in your name must be provided to the Registrar's Office & Student Experience (ROSE) at OISE. The name on our records must include your full legal name. Any differences may result in difficulty in obtaining your student card.
Police Record Checks
As a part of our teacher education programs, you'll spend time practicing your teaching skills in schools. In order to participate in these practicum assignments, you will need a valid criminal record check which includes a vulnerable sector screening (VSS), for each year you are in the program.
Teacher candidates who cannot obtain a satisfactory criminal record report will be unable to complete all the requirements of their OISE degree.

Teaching in Ontario’s Catholic Schools
Students interested in teaching in a Catholic school are required to take a religious education certificate course, in addition to their regular electives.
This course is available through OISE's Continuing & Professional Learning (CPL) department and is a prerequisite for job interviews and a condition of employment in Ontario's Catholic School Boards.
